Alma Thomas loves to paint. She loves to paint with bright, colorful, bold, broad strokes. Her favorite class is art. The other kids in class make fun of her because her paintings don’t look like theirs. Alma’s paintings have magical powers and all the strokes put together makes perfectly sense to only to those of us that have the biggest imagination.  Look closely at all the paintings and you will see. This book is inspired by Alma Thomas who was a teacher and an African – American Expressionist painter. Her painting became the first work by an African – American woman to hang in public spaces the White house as a permanent collection during the Obama presidency.
